I strongly believe that there is always a room for improvement and the progress never ends. However, I did share your view on Java just a few years ago. I just could not imagine that you can somehow improve Java so that it actually makes a difference in the productivity and enjoyment you get from your work as a developer. Other JVM languages I’ve studied just corroborated that feeling (Stephen’s post has a good overview of them as of 2010). Until I’ve started writing real code in Kotlin, that is.
