Putting types to the left does not mean it has to be C-style for function declarations, mixing types and names in one pile. There are many other advantages to the types-on-the-right (including easier parsing, etc) that are quite boring to write about. For sure, though, without the rest of them it would not have been becoming as popular as it is becoming now.
